May 7 – INPUT Industry Bonus Day & Welcome Reception
Get ahead of the pack with the INPUT Sydney Bonus Industry Day – a new addition in 2012 to extend the INPUT experience. Working With The Region
Venue: Comedy Store, Entertainment Quarter
12:00 – 16:00
We are headlong into the Asian century and all of us in the industry need to build strongly on our relationships with key players in the Asia Pacific Region. Moderated by Ian Booth CEO of Screen West and Chris Oliver State and Industry Relations Screen Australia this special session allows INPUT participants attending from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan to talk about the sorts of programs they make and why. How they can work with other countries. Speakers will include producers, directors, commissioning editors, network representatives and government funding agencies.
Included in this session will be a presentation addressing the premise that Children and youth are the true ‘early-adopters’ of new media, which presents a significant challenge to public broadcasters seeking to remain relevant to this important audience. The session will examine the ways in which ABC Children’s Television is facing this challenge in Australia, and how ABC uses new media to engage with its audience and extend its brands – to areas including Asia. The presentation by Tim Brooke Hunt, Controller ABC3 (the children’s channel) and David Glen (Head of Children’s Multi-platform) will discuss ABC TV’s use of dedicated web sites for different age groups, the importance of Streaming content, the appeal of multi-player Games, the use of Tablet Apps by pre-schoolers, and the ways in which ABC engages with older kids via User Generated Content. A must for those involved in new media
